Bought a Windows 7 PC in the past year or two? Ever thought about reformatting and reinstalling Windows because your PC has slowed down, or you simply want to purge it of all the ‘crap’ the PC manufacture installed on it…none of which you will ever use? Well then your not alone, but like most people in your situation, you probably don’t have the original Windows 7 DVD, or if you made recovery disks, they will have all the worthless bloatware crap the manufacture installed. So where do you go from here?
Well this is the great part…there is a completly safe and legal way for you to get a Windows 7 Full Retail DVD for free! I have provided links below to the location of various Windows 7 DVD .iso images. An .iso image is a single file that contains a ‘picture’ or snap-shot of the contents of disk. This can be a CD, DVD or even a hard drive itself. But for this article, I am referring to an image file containing the full contents of a Windows 7 DVD. Please note that all of these links are to files hosted on Digital River, the content provider for Microsoft’s store. So if you were to purchase Windows 7 online, you would have recieved one of the links below as part of your purchase.
So…isn’t that stealing? NO! These files are nothing more then installation disks, and won’t work without a License Key. So…how do I get a license key? Well the answer to that question is simple enough…you already have one! Just look on the back, side or bottom of your PC or Notebook. You will see a lable like this one:
it will tell you wich specific version of Windows 7 you have and give you the key necessary to do a fresh installation.
If you are already running Windows 7, then you have everything you need to create the DVD. Make sure you have a blank DVD (or you cal also use a 4GB or larger USB jump drive (thumb drive). If you want to create a DVD, simply follow these instructions: Burn a CD or DVD from an ISO file. If you want to create a USB drive, which will install Windows much faster then a DVD, follow these instructions: Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool.
